Legendary P-51 pilot, owner and restorer Bob Odegaard crashed in his recently restored F2G Super Corsair on Friday evening September 7 2012. The aircraft plunged to the ground during his practice for Saturday's airshow. Odegaard was killed and the show was cancelled. His son Casey had finished his practice and was watching. No indication of trouble before the crash was noticed.

Bob owned and few his P-51 "Dazzling Donna", 44-74404 since 1990. He was a close friend and fellow restorer with the late Gerry Beck. Bob was known well for many things including his work rebuilding P-51 wings. He has restored 2 Super Corsairs, the first was a bright red with white sunburst stripes, #57. This corsair was raced by Cook Cleland in the late 40's. Bob finished #57 in 1999 and flew it for several years until he sold it.

Odegaard's contribution to the warbird community will be felt for many, many years. He is irreplaceable. He loved his work and treated everyone he met like an old buddy.
