This is 44-73415 which became RCAF 9289. Sold in 1959 it became N6526D in August 1959. It crashed on 19.3.77. Further details unknown to me.

Case # 74 shows what 'Voodoo Chile, race #55' used to look like before all the 'wild' paint schemes it has worn in recent years. N6526D is s/n 44-73415, and had been rebuilt by the late Bill Speer, and originally raced in a 357th F.G. scheme as 'Pegasus.' Now owned by Bob Button, with the name shortened to 'Voodoo,' this very competitive Mustang is currently being offered for sale by Bob Hanna Aviation. It has carried the same registration since being surplussed by the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1951, for whom it had served as RCAF 9289

N6526D This plane crashed on March 19, 1977 killing pilot Julian Jenkins and a female passenger. According to an accident brief I've read the plane had a partially completed dual control system installed, and it was impossible to determine who was at the controls at the time of the accident! The id was then transferred to a project that the late Bill Speer rebuilt as "Pegasus", which is now "Voodoo".
