Rumors about this P-51 being used up in a rebuild of 45-11553 printed in warbird books and web sites (including MustangsMustangs). Even many P-51 historians did not know about this one until late 2000s.

2008: work to bring back to airworthy.

2010: Appeared to the public (sort of) at the Reno Air Races. Stored in the back of a large hangar behind several public displays with doors open for everyone to see. Many people came up to me asking who's P-51 is in the back of that hangar.
