Readers' Responses:

Dick Phillips: ...it clearly shows the number N5423V which was 45-11586. It became N51HA, then N13LF (at which point I helped the owner, Lynn Florey, paint the airplane as Death Rattler). Lynn sold it to Harry Tope, who changed it to N51HT and crashed it fatally in Ottawa on July 1, 1990.

Vlado Lenoch: That's easy: Wally Oakes old airplane, which was restored to "Death Rattler' and crashed fataly by Harry Tope In Canada in July 1990.

Martin Kyburz: This ship I have listed as 45-11586, ex 167th FS WV ANG; civil registrations N5423V, N51HA (ntu) 5.78, N13LF 3.79, N51HT 2.87.

Case Closed!

45-11586
