Joe Scheil: 44-74977 recently after being surplused from the ANG. Mike Coutches owned her as N5448V and this was her only civil registration. Now with Christopher Gruys in Santa Fe NM. This was the one stolen from Tonopah and found in Merced a year later. Would love to know that story...


Marc Koelich: This Mustang looks a lot like 44-74977, N5448V. In another picture I've seen, the registration is painted on the fuselage and the plane does not have additional fuel tanks. N5448V was owned from 1963 to 1966 by Earl Dodge, Anchorage, AK. It achieved some fame when it was stolen then recovered in 1984. It was rebuilt in 1994 and now belongs to Christopher Gruys, Santa Fe, NM.
