2000: Bob Baker, Alva OK, restoration project, x: ANG airframe
Purchased from John Macguire as a collection of parts, with many wing and fuselage parts from 44-73279. Bob combined this wide selection of parts with a Beck fuselage and Odegaard wing. Baker was in control of the restoration and spent 3 years of nights and weekends (and a little in between) on the P-51. Baker's 2nd P-51 restoration included the addition of the 108 gallon paper drop tanks used in WWII. Baker found 1 complete original and used that as a template for a replica. You would have a hard time to tell them apart.
