1961: Dec 06, N6167C, crashed, loss of engine power at approx 400' AGL - test flight - ferry pilot Wilber Edwin Gauber and pax Herbert Taylor killed. P-51 was going to be ferried to its new owner in Mexico the next week. Rep. Gauber could not get the P-51 started. He waited a bit, then it started. Witnesses reported seeing thick yellow smoke coming from the P-51 before it crashed.
